Pink Lake Producers is a farmers’ collective led by James Preuss, a fifth-generation farmer and agricultural scientist. We’re a little bit geeky about genetics, pastures, and carcass data—and completely uncompromising about welfare and flavour.

We raise what we can on our own country and partner only with like-minded Australian producers when we need a different species or breed, or the finest wild-caught seafood. Same philosophy, same respect for land and animals, same refusal to cut corners.

Frequently asked questions

Are your animals really 100% grass-fed and grass-finished?

Our cattle and sheep are 100% pasture-raised and grass-finished. They never receive grain. In the dry period when our pastures naturally “hay off” around November, we feed high-quality silage and hay we produce on-farm instead of forcing pasture growth with chemicals or grain.

How are your pigs and poultry raised?

Our pigs and poultry live on pasture with room to roam, forage, and express natural behaviours. They have ad-lib access to a carefully formulated, nutritionally complete feed that complements what they find on pasture. That balance supports animal health, welfare, and consistently excellent eating quality.

What makes your meat different from supermarket meat?

Three things: how the animals live, how we handle them, and how we measure quality. Our animals are raised on pasture with low-stress handling. We test every carcass forpHpH, tenderness, colour, fat profile, and aroma, and we track each one from birth to your doorstep. That level of care and data simply doesn’t exist in most supermarket supply chains.

Do you use hormones, growth promotants, or routine antibiotics?

No growth hormones or growth promotants are used. We do not use routine antibiotics. If an animal genuinely needs veterinary treatment, welfare comes first, and that animal may be diverted from our main program depending on the treatment.
